Therefore it can be challenging to find the perfect recipe; look no further! It is the perfect warm drink for being served throughout December, and it certainly adds to the festive spirit. The word “mulled” means heated and spiced. Mulled wine has been withstanding throughout history, and during medieval times it was known by the name ‘hippocras’. A spicy drink intended to help aid digestion and keep people warm during the cold winter months. At this time, it was also safer to drink red wine due to poor sanitation of water. Today, mulled wine is synonymous with Christmas and is often closely associated with German and Nordic traditions. Mulled wine is traditionally served alongside luxurious cheeses and other Christmas foods. Christmas drinks don’t come better than this!
