About the Gabriel-Glas StandArt Universal Glass

The Gabriel-Glas StandArt is a beautifully designed universal wine glass, created by renowned Swiss wine critic and taster René Gabriel. Having tasted tens of thousands of wines over more than 40 years, René Gabriel set out to create a single glass capable of bringing out the best in a wide variety of wines.

The result is the StandArt, a versatile, elegant and surprisingly robust wine glass designed for everyday enjoyment.

One Glass for Every Wine

The StandArt is designed as a true all-purpose wine glass, suitable for red, white, rosé and sparkling wines, as well as other drinks such as Champagne, brandy and whisky.

Its distinctive bowl has been carefully shaped to encourage the wine to open up, helping to release and concentrate its aromas. The wide lower section of the bowl provides ample surface area for the wine to breathe, while the gently tapered upper section directs the aromas towards the narrower opening.

The result is what Gabriel-Glas calls its "bouquet drive", a shape designed to enhance the wine's aromas and flavours without requiring a different glass for every variety or style.

Seamless, Single-Piece Construction

The StandArt is machine-blown from a single piece of lead-free crystal, with the bowl, stem and foot formed as a single continuous piece. There are no joints, seams or adhesives, giving the glass a clean, elegant appearance and excellent balance.

The crystal is exceptionally clear and lightweight, while the carefully crafted stem and foot provide stability for everyday use.

The rim is laser-cut and diamond-polished, producing a fine, precise edge that feels delicate on the lips and offers improved resistance to chipping.

Designed for Everyday Use

Despite its elegant appearance, the StandArt is designed to be practical enough for everyday use at home, as well as in restaurants and wine bars.

It is dishwasher-safe and has been tested for brilliance and clarity over 1,000 dishwasher cycles.

For best results, Gabriel-Glas recommends washing the glasses in the upper rack of the dishwasher using a normal wash programme. Avoid chlorine-based detergents, which can be harsh on glass surfaces.

The name StandArt is a deliberate blend of "standard" and "art". While the glass is designed as an everyday, universal wine glass, René Gabriel considers its distinctive shape and performance to be something beyond the ordinary.
