Description

Bookshelf Edition

Typically, German wine maps cover the leading wine regions (Anbaugebiete) as vague areas or blobs. However, the De Long German wine map is highly detailed and shows the central regions, including the top vineyard areas, wine villages and grape varieties. It also includes vineyard maps of both the Mosel and Rheingau regions.

This map is a great way to come to terms with the complexities of German wine.

Before De Long produced this map, every German wine map of the entire country showed overly generalized blobs of their major wine regions (Anbaugebiete). This vagueness was a complete disconnect from the incredibly detailed vineyard maps developed by the German wine authority, Deutsches Weininstitut. The challenge for Steve De Long was to retain as much detail as possible on a single map of Germany while maintaining legibility or, in cartographer’s terms, good generalization.

  • Attractive - 24" by 36" (610mm x 914mm) (Unfolded) - 9.25 x 6.3 x 0.25 inches (box)
  • Accurate - extensively researched.
  • Up to Date - the only up-to-date wine map of Germany currently available includes all main wine regions (Anbaugebiete) broken down into sub-regions (Bereich) and including top wine villages and grape varieties; detail maps of Rheingau and Mosel; adjacent regions of France, Luxembourg, and Switzerland.
  • In Context - comparative latitudes of other world wine regions
  • It is expertly printed on heavyweight acid-free archival paper.
  • Also includes: AVA map, index booklet, map tack stickers
  • Publication Date: July 2020

All the maps are made using the latest mapping technology, current wine laws and regulations of each region, and consultation with wine industry professionals.
