About the Laguiole en Aubrac Champagne Sabre
'Pop the champagne' is a delicate and spectacular art! This tradition dates back to the 19th century and originated from the customs of many cavalry regiments. To celebrate their victories, soldiers of the Napoleonic Guard would open champagne bottles using their sabres.
Today, this eye-catching technique is used during events such as weddings and birthdays and during friendly gatherings with family or friends to share an unforgettable moment, generating a perfect picture moment!
The Laguiole en Aubrac Champagne Sabre is the perfect accessory to impress your guests. With its sophisticated, characteristic curved handle, reminiscent of the Laguiole knife, this sabre becomes a true collector's piece.
How to use a Champagne Sabre:
- Remove the foil from the bottle. Leave the wire in place.
 - Hold the bottle with the top facing away from you and with the seam, which runs the length of the bottle, uppermost.
 - Rest the flat of the blade on the bottle's shoulder with the cutting edge directed away from the bottle top. Then, move the sabre sharply up the bottleneck along the seam line, causing the blade's back edge to make rapid contact with the bulge on the neck - the weak point.

The top of the neck, complete with a cork in place, should then be sliced cleanly away.
Wineware is a certified stockist and supplies genuine Laguiole corkscrews.
