The dark-skinned grape type that is Syrah is also referred to as Shiraz in Australia. It’s grown worldwide, with France, South America, the USA and Australia / New Zealand being the most popular for production. The black grape originates from the Rhone-Alpes region in southeastern France, close to the border of wine-loving neighbours Italy. A typically shaped Syrah / Shiraz glass has a tall bowl with a large capacity, slightly smaller in width than a Bordeaux glass with a slightly narrow opening.
